Are You Being Invited Back Every Week?
Even better than the ‘pop-in’ is the standing invitation.
This excellent report from The Blogging Teacher, shows (among other great stats) just how effective an email marketing campaign can be when you mail to your lists consistently and often. People get used to you showing up every Tuesday or Thursday. They start to expect your email. Even better if you’re mailing weekly, you don’t have to say too much.
I’ve been subscribed to one email newsletter since 1998. It comes in every week and the author carefully crafts it so that it takes no more than a minute to read the meat of the single article. Of course, she includes links to her products and services underneath, and sometimes I read them, sometimes I don’t. But you can bet that any time I’m in the market for something she sells, she is the first person I think of buying from. Why not? I trust her. I’ve been inviting her into my home every week for 12 years, and she has never taken advantage of me yet.
But you don’t need 12 years to build up that kind of trust.
